Who staffs CPS?

The CPS team consists of skilled and experienced senior policy researchers, policy reserachers and research assistants. Besides their formal research activities, they have the following tasks:

  • Contribute to conferences and seminars;
  • Deliver lectures at universities and other academic institutions;
  • Give talks to various non-academic institutions;
  • Brief a broad spectrum of people and institutions, including delegations from abroad, on developments in South Africa and the rest of Africa;
  • Participate in outside projects;
  • Participate in public and private policy processes; and
  • Contribute to radio, TV programmes, newspapers and journals.

Equally experienced administrative staff supports research personnel. All aspects of CPS administration are handled internally, and most CPS publications are edited and produced in-house.

Several researchers are products of CPS’s former internship programme, which offered a comprehensive research internship to graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds. Other graduates of the programme have taken up senior positions in government or other organisations.

CPS is in the process of reviving its capacity-building and skills empowerment programme. This will especially benefit young black researchers.
